Things to do in Jardín, Antioquia: 12 ideas and a two-day itinerary

Almost everything in Jardín starts on foot from the square. The key is order: long hikes in the morning, when it rains less, and the afternoon for the cock-of-the-rock and the square.

Twelve things to do

  1. Have a tinto on the colorful chairs of the square, the most Jardín thing there is.
  2. Look at the basilica of carved stone, a National Monument since 1980. After the August 2026 earthquake, check whether the interior is open.
  3. Cross the Volcanes creek on La Garrucha, a cable built by a farmer around a 1954 Ford transmission.
  4. Climb to Cristo Rey for the view of town with the Farallones del Citará behind.
  5. Walk to Cascada del Amor and on to Charco Corazón, where the La Herrera and La Bonita creeks meet.
  6. Watch the cock-of-the-rock at the Jardín de Rocas reserve, 400 meters from the square.
  7. Go to Cueva del Esplendor, at about 2,300 meters on the Jardín-Támesis ridge.
  8. Take a coffee tour on a farm in the Serranías area.
  9. Try the sweets made from arracacha, squash and rose petals on Calle 13.
  10. Eat trout, which is farmed in the municipality.
  11. Find the Cueva de los Guácharos and the Salto del Ángel in La Salada.
  12. Come for a festival: the Fiestas de la Rosa in May, the Film Festival in September or the Inmaculada in December.

For Cueva del Esplendor and the Guácharos, bring rubber boots: Jardín mountain trails are muddy most of the year. Check the weather by month.
